Brome & Oakley Village Hall is a converted Victorian village school now operating as a Village Hall and community asset in the centre of Brome, near Diss. It was converted to a hall in 1971. Since then it has hosted local sports and social groups, parties, dances, quizes, talks, public meetings, community lunches and weddings, christenings and funeral receptions conducted at local churches. There is a bar selling alcoholic drinks and a recently refurbished kitchen for catering. Larger groups tend to use external caterers for meal preparation and the kitchen for finishing off/serving. It is run entirely by local volunteers, which helps keep the costs down. Availability: Anytime when not in use by regular groups, i.e. Friday evenings, one Saturday per month coffee morning and the last Wednesday every month for a community lunch. The hall is also the Polling Station on election days. Hire Costs: Base cost is £30 for a minimum of three hours, plus £10 per hour for each succeeding hour.
