Risby Village Hall

Risby Village Hall is actively used both by our village and local clubs, has a thriving Pre-School, and is used by the local Primary School for indoor sporting activities and afterschool clubs. Just 5 miles west of Bury St Edmunds along the A14 we are easily accessed by car and by a bus service from Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall.

Our original hall was built in 1923 and bequeathed to the people of Risby village in 1952. A larger hall was added in the 1970s, built with the help of loans from Risby villagers. In 2020/21, the main hall saw a major internal and external upgrade sponsored by lottery funding with improved insulation and heating. With ample car parking, our facilities include 3 halls (accommodating up to 300 seated), a large kitchen, football and cricket pitch, outdoor floodlit multi use play area (Muga), twin Petanque courts, children’s play area, outdoor gym equipment. We installed Solar panels on our roof in 2022 and EV chargers in 2023. 

A favourite venue for children’s parties with room for children’s entertainers, games and of course room to run around and get rid of all that energy without wrecking your home and worrying about the best china! Over the last 5 years with the aid of grants and fundraising activities our facilities have  been much improved – with new toilet facilities installed in mid 2025 and plans for further improvements in the pipeline, including a new childrens play area. With ample parking, use of catering facilities and a choice of two halls (or even both) there is space for just about any event from a small meeting to concerts, dinner dance for 200+ or exhibitions.
